Plans unveiled for 800 new homes in Cheshire

If you are investment planning in Cheshire, a new community of nearly 800 homes is being developed in Crewe.

The plans were revealed this week by Bloor Homes and Vistry Group, and will facilitate a community of 791 new homes at Leighton West.

Of these, Bloor Homes is delivering 383 properties on the site, of which 39 will be affordable homes. A further 408 will be provided by Vistry, with 208 forward-sold to Liverpool-based supplier of affordable housing, Plus Dane Housing.

The other 200 will find buyers on the open market, under Vistry brands Bovis Homes and Linden Homes.

The project forms a major part of Cheshire East’s bid to create a brand-new sustainable neighbourhood at Leighton West. The new community will, additionally, also offer a range of public amenities, such as community orchards, allotments, foot and cycle paths, green corridors, outside gyms and play areas.

The development is earmarked to contribute £5.6m to improve local community facilities and services, which will include a pub, a mixed-use community centre, leisure facilities, a new primary school site and a children’s nursery. There will also be extra funding for enhanced cycle links, highway works, travel plan monitoring and NHS support.

Vistry managing director for Cheshire East, Joe Turner, said the plans would lead to a ‘vibrant, sustainable neighbourhood’ for Crewe, by addressing local demand for quality housing and associated social, environmental and community benefits. For their part, Plus Dane Housing said the project followed on from other schemes in Crewe, with over 150 homes in the Alexandra Gardens development scheduled for completion.
