BII climate investments exceed $400 million in 2022

Investment chart

British International Investment (BII), the United Kingdom’s dedicated development finance institution, has now invested more than 400 million worth of climate finance since the start of 2022, according to its recent statement at COP27 in Egypt.

The funds invested by the British institution that was formerly called the CDC Group during this year shows a 13-fold increase since the Paris agreement was made at COP21 in 2015.

Commenting on the BII’s expanded climate investments at the Egypt summit, CEO Nick O’Donohoe said the UK had increased its national commitment to fight climate emergency exponentially over the last ten years. He added that the BII was currently among the largest providers of greener investment on the African continent and stated that he anticipated that the institution’s climate finance levels would see a continuing rise during the next ten years.

UK companies and individual consumers interested in green investments often seek out the expertise of an independent financial advisor in Chester, Birmingham and other key cities. Unbiased advisors like wealth managers can be relied upon for an impartial view on investment opportunities and aid assembling green assets for a more ethical portfolio to suit their client’s attitude towards the environment.

Last year at COP26 held in Glasgow, the BII operating at that point as CDC Group pledged to invest more than £3 billion into emerging markets with the aim of assisting them in adapting to the adverse impact of climate change and reducing their emissions output.
