Research reveals British investors braced for recession

New data has uncovered that investors based in the UK are currently bracing for a recession occurring before the end of 2022. The commissioned research involved an independent survey that canvassed 885 investors in Britain with holdings more than $10,000, not including the value of their workplace pensions and residential properties.

British consumers with fears about a national recession often seek out independent investment advice in Shropshire, Cheshire, Lincolnshire and other UK counties. Wealth managers offer expert guidance on investments and market volatility, constructing and actively monitoring diverse portfolios to balance risk and return.

The recent survey discovered that 62 per cent of UK investors believe that, before the end of the year, Britain will be plunged into a recession. The research also showed that in the present low-growth and high-inflation economy here in the UK, 50 per cent of investors voiced concerns that the interest rate rising cycle of the Bank of England would be insufficient to stamp out the soaring levels of inflation expected in the coming months, which pose the greatest threat to financial portfolios.

Additionally, 45 per cent of investors expressed alarm at the prospect of interest rate hikes, fearing that they will decrease economic growth and trigger a recession over the next 12 months.

In the UK’s current economic climate, over half of the respondents describe their investment stance as being ‘risk averse’. A further 38 per cent commented that safe-haven assets were now their main focus in the 2022 investment landscape.
