Clean energy technology company and heat pump specialist Aira has opened its new hub in Trafford, Greater Manchester.
The Swedish company has selected Trafford as its operational base in the North-West, and it will be led by Marc Clarke. He brings over 20 years’ experience in the home heating sector before joining Aira in 2023.
The site was formally opened by Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, and Liz Patel on Trafford Council, who is their Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration. As centre of operations, the Trafford hub will generate hundreds of high-skill jobs in the North West of England, furthering Aira’s overall ambition to create 8,000 new clean energy expert roles in the UK over the next 10 years. These will include planners, sales staff, designers, heat pump installers, customer service teams and apprenticeships.
Market research by Aira has found that over a third of people based in the North West said they were likely to install a heat pump in their home, indicating increased consumer demand for clean energy solutions. This chimes with local authorities’ support for the transition to clean energy, with the GMCA setting a net zero target for 2038.
The hub is the latest stage in Aira’s expanded presence across northern England, following its acquisition of All Seasons Energy in 2023, and the Sheffield launch of the first Aira Academy. The North West hub will serve households in cities and adjacent areas around Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
