Key lessons from Financial Planning Week 2026

This year’s Financial Planning Week 2026 lasted from January 26 until February 1, and concluded with calls to ‘demystify’ financial planning for the general public.

The campaign has been spearheaded by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, and reflects a serious desire by the industry to add to the 8.6% of the UK population who received financial advice on pensions, investments, or retirement planning in 2025.

People seeking financial advice in Cheshire or Oswestry may be interested in the nationwide public outreach campaign, which has been initiated to boost awareness of the advantages of financial planning. This has been designed to encourage UK consumers to set up free, introductory appointments with financial planning professionals.

Leading financial planner, Andrew Day, says increasing awareness is important so that more people realise what they can get out of an effective financial plan. It offers people a clear route for the future but is all too often put off because we are too busy in our daily lives. He insists that, psychologically, people are glad when they do get round to formulating a plan, in the spirit of Financial Planning Week’s slogan “Live your today. Plan for tomorrow”.

There are two key audiences for financial planners. Firstly, there are those who have received financial advice but are unsure about how to proceed. Secondly, there are people who consider themselves unsuited because they haven’t yet acquired enough wealth to justify it. In either instance, and irrespective of your circumstances, financial planning is necessary in terms of laying down goals and taking steps to achieve them.
