Expert investment council created to advise UK government

Gerry Grimstone, Minister for Investment, has announced the creation of an investment council to provide the UK government with expert advice on foreign investment in order to enhance and improve the country’s business environment for investors from other countries.

The dedicated council will comprise senior leaders from the private sector, based around the world and representing a diverse range of industries. These include energy, infrastructure, technology, and financial services. Its role will be to offer its experience, knowledge and foresight in support of the government’s current inward investment strategy.

The newly formed council will be headed up by Grimstone and is due to meet up bi-annually, as well as on an “as needed” basis, to deliver advanced strategic guidance to the Department for International Trade along with the wider government, while operating alongside another recently formed agency – the Office for Investment.

Investment council members will impart their own experiences of operating within the UK market and share their views regarding UK competitiveness. They will also give advice on regulatory and policy amendments that could potentially enhance the appeal of the UK market to foreign investors. The purpose of the new council will now be to drive investments forward into key sectors and areas, effectively levelling up the entire United Kingdom via a recovery led by investment.

From national and local governments to individual investors, those seeking financial advice in Chester, London and other UK cities can draw upon the experience and skill of experts in wealth management.
