Cheshire sees storage expansion as Lock Stock opens first site

A rapidly expanding storage firm from North Wales has opened a new eco-conscious park in Winsford.

The container-focused storage company is the biggest in the country, and the Nat Lane site represents its first move into the Cheshire market. For those investment planning in Cheshire, the company is launching five storage parks in the county, with a further five opening nationwide by 2026. Its existing sites are primarily located across North Wales and the North West.

The Winsford site covers 1.5 acres and features a state-of-the-art, advanced booking system with enhanced security technology and live video links for new customers to access. The company has also emphasised its ‘green’ credentials with solar-powered lighting and a yard that uses recycled road materials. The site offers 224 units in a range of sizes, with the largest offering in excess of 4,000 cubic feet in storage space. Moreover, there is no minimum rental period, or notice required to vacate, with customers simply requested to pay for the time used.

The company believes it will be a good fit for Cheshire, with a customer base broadly comprising 60% private individuals and 40% small businesses. It is keen to build links with the local community, supporting charity and community events, while attracting interest from local students and others in need of short-term storage solutions.

Across the UK as a whole, data revealed the self-storage sector grew by 7.2% in 2024-25, with total floorspace increasing to 64.3 million square feet and turnover up to £1.2 billion nationally.
