Cheshire East Council has approved proposals for a new and innovative business park, creating thousands of new jobs in Crewe. Western M6 is located in the up-and-coming Baston East neighbourhood between David Whitby Way and the A500. The project is being led by developer Muse.
The Western M6 park has been designed to encourage a holistic environment which prioritises the health and wellbeing of workers, visitors and other people close by. Its paths will be tailored to pedestrians and cyclists alike, and will also feature nature and parks.
According to Muse, the finished park will balance productivity and employees’ wellbeing and make well-connected Crewe an attractive setting for forward-thinking businesses from around the world. The units have been devised with sustainability in mind, and will therefore include solar PV and EV charging points, alongside bright office space.
Six logistics and industrial units are earmarked for the site, covering close to 1.2 million sq ft of space, in addition to five 100,000 sq ft office blocks. In total, around 2,900 jobs are likely to be created plus a further 165 during construction. In phase one of the planning application, the local authority granted detailed permission for three of the logistics units on the site. The remaining units and office space have received outline permission in principle, and a further application to consider the details of phase two will be presented before the end of 2024.
