British investors show more support for renewables than government

A recent poll has uncovered that investors in the UK are more likely to back clean energy than the government’s ministers. Figures collected showed that six out of every 10 investors in Britain were looking to increase their current holdings in renewables. UK consumers interested in adding ESG asset like renewables to their portfolio often seek investment advice in Chester, Birmingham and other cities from wealth managers. Able to offer unbiased guidance on investments, they can explain the potential returns to be gained along with the level of risk to investors.

The recent survey encompassed 1,000 different retail investors and found that 81 per cent were concerned about the current energy crisis, believing it will have long-term effects on the UK’s economy. Out of those surveyed, seven out of 10 believe the private sector and policymakers should raise their game in order to encourage further funding for the sector.

The poll also showed that 57 per cent of respondents wanted to use their investments to ease the present energy price crisis. Renewable energy assets were the most popular option for achieving this aim. A total of 57 per cent also recently increased their holdings in the sector or have plans to do so soon.

Most investors surveyed support a wider range of clean energy options than the government. To date, only offshore wind has been set targets by the Energy Security Strategy. Finally, 56 per cent of investors feel they must use their investments responsibly to help Britain reach its net-zero ambitions.
